Eugen OhuDr. Eugene Ohu

Dr. Eugene Ohu, a business man and an academic is a full-time faculty at the Lagos Business School where he teaches MBA and executive programs.  He has a PhD in Communications from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, Rome, Italy.  His thesis (summa cum laude) was a study on the interplay of organizational culture and communication.  He also has a bachelor of Pharmacy (University of Benin, Nigeria), and a postgraduate diploma in Education (University of Calabar, Nigeria).

Eugene (a self-taught software developer) has been an avid advocate and user of the .ng domain right from when it was managed by the American Mr. Randy Bush, and played key roles in finally berthing the domain on Nigerian soil.

He is a pioneer member of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA).  Working alongside the first president late Engr. Kalu Ndukwe, he was a member of the technical committee that set up the first infrastructure for the local hosting of the .ng domain.  He was part of the decision and implementation making process for the choice of software as well as hardware implementation at the first data centre.  He was also a member of the NiRA Auction Committee.  His company Netorb Media Limited became one of the pioneer accredited registrars of the .ng domain name has had uninterrupted service to date.

Dr. Ohu is very active in the Nigerian technology scene.  In 2006, he set up Netorb Media Limited as a new-media and communications company.  On that platform he initiated several technology business ideas to take advantage of the rapid growth of the Internet in Nigeria, to aid interpersonal and corporate communication. Communication needs of specific clients soon revealed opportunities that were spun off into independent businesses, such as a subsidiary powering millions of SMS messages across the globe, and another providing static and dynamic Domain Name services.

As an academic his research interests converge on Digital Consumer Behavior (also known as Digital Psychology), a field that combines theories of digital marketing, behavioural economics and psychology to create communication that persuade and compel the unconscious mind to action. He likes to study individual and interpersonal behaviours across cultural dimensions, and how this knowledge can improve programmed or organized communication. One consequence of these curiosities is an understanding of how to optimize and do better targeting of advertising and marketing in cyberspace.  In this ambit he consults for digital marketing firms and Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies.

His teaching areas at the business school include: Digital Marketing, Creating Business Value with Big Data and Analytics, Digital Talent Management, Human Behaviour in Organisations, Team Dynamics, Leadership. Others are Marketing,  Management Communication, Media Relations, Corporate Communication and Strategic Customer Relationship Management.
